Cook County - Reader Comment
Every once in a while we get a comment that we think deserves it's own post. As stated before.....we stay anonymous for very good reason, so we hold nothing against anyone who comes here and vents anonymously...as long as you obey the blog rules....
A few of the CC bosses have, in no uncertain terms, let us know that they feel the line often gets crossed on the county blog. Whether we agree or disagree is irrelevant.
What we do respect, are the people like Sgt. Sullivan, who have the balls to jump into the shark tank, say their piece, sign their name to their opinions, and then take their lumps...
Whether you agree or disagree with the Sgt., we give him credit......he came here without home field advantage and made his point.
You're probably right, Sarge, you'll no doubt get tagged with a few unflattering comments.....and as long as they don't accuse you of something they can't prove, or belittle your family, we'll let them comment.
BUT....we'll go on record as the first ones to compliment you on your guts....
we know there's lots of readers out there that share your opinion......maybe they'll take the time to back you up in writing....
Here's the piece:
To all those who post on this site and use it as a tool to bad mouth, diminish or whatever you would like to call it should be embarrassed by yourselves. This site is read by other Police Departments as well as by the citizens that we are supposed to be protecting. Do you honestly think that by posting on this site that you are going to make a difference where you work. If you really want to be a man do something about it at your job. Write a memo, make a suggestion, talk to a boss and offer some advice on how to improve things that you think are so wrong. I know it is much easier for most of you to cower behind your keyboard and remain anonymous. I know that my way may get you in some hot water, as it has me, but at least your have your self-respect. I also know that those of you who use this site to throw out names about who does what and this guy is worthless or whatever else is said, are too much of a coward to say it to someone's face. The people I do not like on this job, know so because I told them...the boss's I have worked for know my opinion because I have told them. I am not afraid to speak my mind to anyone therefore I feel no need to hide at my home and bash my fellow workers. As far as the promotions..it easy for some of you to say that they were bad because it was not you...I am personally happy for both of them because they are both my friends and I know where I stand with them. Now I know that some of you cowards will write more stuff about me and that's fine, I am not sensitive and don't really care but if you want to be a real man, come meet me at my roll call and tell me to my face. Also do some research before you throw my name out there so casually...I am not even on the Lieutenants list...dumbass! Sincerly, Sergeant John L. Sullivan, #93
